I would like to share some thoughts on our Paducah trip. I have been on three trips with the Chamber, to visit other cities and see how they operate and promote their businesses and recruit jobs. This trip was by far the most informative to date. We visited the West Kentucky Community and Technical College and toured the Expo and Convention Center. We met with the mayor, city administrator, bankers, and the executive director of the Chamber of Commerce and Tourism. All of these various groups work together on a continuing basis for the betterment of Paducah and McCracken County. Mayor Bill Paxton spoke at length regarding a monthly meeting with the Chamber, Tourism, Department heads in City government, and representatives for state and federal government. All of these folks meet to share ideas and implement plans for their city and region to grow and attract new jobs. He indicated that the person in charge at the airport knew as much about what was going on at city hall as the mayor and vise versa. That is what I call cooperation and working together! I personally would like to see Berea accomplish something similar to their model. Thank you to Paul Reynolds and the Economic Development Committee, along with the trip sponsors, for a great trip. There is so much more to say about this trip that space doesn't allow. See one of the folks that participated to find out more information, and lets get moving.
I would like to send a special thank you to Sandy Rowlette for all her help in the office in the recent weeks. Thanks again for all you do, we appreciate you Sandy!
Sincerely, Greg

If you don't know by now it is Spoonbread time again. The festival is just days away!! I hope all board members have volunteered to help in some way. A big THANK-YOU to the city, in advance, for all the "in kind" help.
I would like to thank Charles Hoffman and the Government Relations / Public Affairs Committee for the great luncheon with Senator McConnell on Wednesday, August 29th. I would also like to thank Gary McCormick, Lyndsey Mullins and Chef Jeff Newman for the wonderful meal and gracious hospitality at Boone Tavern for our luncheon.
