Text Box: A WORD FROM THE PRESIDENT
Text Box: Linda has taken a new job with the Council of State Governments in Lexington and plans to remain active in the Berea Chamber as an individual member or through her new employer. As we make the transition in leadership, I would like to start by thanking Linda for all of her hard work and dedication to the chamber during recent years.   We wish you the very best with your new job and look forward to your continued involvement with the Berea Chamber.
We are moving into a busy time of year with summer break from school for the kids and family vacations. As this busy time approaches, we are equally busy at the chamber.   Our golf scramble is June 9th at Battlefield, please plan to join us there for a great day of fun and networking on the course with many opportunities to win some great prizes.  Our membership drive is paying dividends with 41 new members joining the Chamber during the last two weeks To continue that momentum, we plan to honor our discount invitation for the next couple of weeks since we have not been able to adequately follow up with some of our prospective members targeted during the drive. Many thanks to Stephanie Moore and the membership committee for all of your hard work.  Our government relations and public affairs committee have secured the speaker for our Washington update for the August  membership meeting, names and place of meeting coming soon!!  Also, look for a new survey on alcohol sales in Berea restaurants. The economic development committee is working on a trip to Paducah for early June.  This trip will be a joint venture with participants from the Chamber, the City and Tourism. Anyone interested should contact the office A.S.A.P. to reserve a seat on the bus.  Spoonbread Festival time is much closer than we think, so please be thinking of a way you can contribute to our signature event.
Lastly, let me say it is an honor for me to work with each of you as we endeavor to make Berea, our home, or workplace  more vibrant and a place others want to live, work and play!!  I  feel that communication within the chamber is vital to our success and the success of each business represented.  We must work together with our city leaders, county leaders and neighbors in Richmond and surrounding towns not only to promote what we have but all that is around us.  Please feel free to contact me anytime, with anything.  I can be reached at work (859)-986-3115, or on my cell (859)-582-8276 or  via e-mail at gregpowell@windstream.net. Lets keep Berea moving forward!

Passing the Gavel

During our April meeting, the Chamber Board of Directors accepted the resignation of Linda Burdine as President of the Chamber. Consequently, I will be completing Linda’s term, moving up from the President Elect position.
