The Berea International Festival is gearing up for the 2008 event. Their mission statement is to “create a reliable international festival that embraces various kinds of cultural activities, including high quality and authentic arts and crafts, food, music and dance to feature our town as a unique and an attractive tourist destination in Central Kentucky.
The Berea International Festival will be an event that will:
· market the City of Berea and Madison County in a positive way, educate our children and adults about the world that surrounds us. · bring much business to our area for the benefit of retailers, hotels, restaurants, and tax payers arts and crafts people and antique stores
Approximately 5,000 - 8,000 visitors are expected to visit Berea during the 2008 event. The sky is the limit with the right organization and commitment. The event will mainly take place in the Memorial Park, and on College Square.
Your person, your organization, or your business is important in this process. Therefore, the planning committee is asking Chamber members to become a partner and co-sponsor of this event. Your name, business or organization will appear in the festival paper, which will be distributed via local papers, and on our webpage. We would be happy to place your banner where activities take place. As a sponsor, you and your partner/guest will be invited to a Gala Evening Friday, May 9 at Russell Acton Folk Center. Governor Steve Beshear will be invited to this gala event, because there will be an official focus on international tourism in the years to come.
It is also feasible to sponsor or co-sponsor specific events such as entertainment, workshops, international food courts, etc. The festival planning committee is working collaboratively with Berea College to incorporate their International and Appalachian educational programming into the festival. We hope that you or your organization will generously support this event. Last year we laid a good foundation and got some good constructive feedback.
For more information about the festival and sponsorship opportunities, please call Sune Frederiksen, President & Festival Director, at (859) 248-0690 or (859) 986-7584.
