Text Box: Dancing Ahead!!

What a wonderful break from the winter weather we are finally having!

February Review: Our 3rd annual Chamber Dance was held on Friday, February 9th at the Folk Center. This year’s dance was themed around Valentine’s Day and what a beautiful evening our dance committee created. The event was attended by nearly 100 people, many of whom danced late into the evening, and from the many comments and compliments we received, it was a huge success! Thank you chairperson, Linda VanWinkle and the entire committee for a fantastic job! If you are in need of delicious desserts, you might see Gayle Powell, Linda VanWinkle, or Sandy Rowlette; or Nola Newman could hook you up with a hors d’oeuvre recipe. Thank you ladies for donating your personal touch to the evening. Uptown Catering set us up with a great meal. What tasty contributions! Of course, we would like to thank all the sponsors of the event and encourage all of you to become sponsors in some way this year. Each of our events has been getting bigger and better during the past year and we truly expect this year to continue along the same path.

Our February membership meeting was hosted by Berea Urgent Care at the Folk Center with an update of their progress during their first year of business. We would like to encourage all members to attend these monthly meetings.

As we look forward to March, we have a newly formed Communications Committee, chaired by Steve Pennington, and need members to get it going. Our Public Affairs and Government Relations Committee have planned a Legislative Day/Trip to Frankfort where we will meet with Senator Worley, Representative Napier, Representative Pasley, and Representative Moberly’s staff on March 1st. The Joint Tourism and Economic Development Committees are working on collaborative projects between the Berea and Richmond Chambers and the three governments. Plans are in the making for the 2007 Joint Leadership Trip.

Our community is facing many new issues this year, from taxes, to smoking bans, to construction changes; and the Chamber is committed in serving this business community by carrying your thoughts and concerns to the appropriate places. Please let your voice be heard, contact the Chamber office or any member of the board to discuss these issues.

I would like to personally invite our membership to join one of our numerous working committees. Look around your organization and find someone willing, and often wanting, to get involved and call the office so we can get the information to them and to our committee chairs. Our community success will be measured in terms of the contributions our individual members make to his or her fellow human beings. We will only realize the value of our hard work by working hard.

Sincerely,

Linda
