Racing into May
With the arrival of May and the beauty of the spring flowers it amazes me how fast this year is going. It seems nearly impossible that school will soon be out and summer is just around the corner. I remember as a child my parents would tell me how fast the game of life passed, but I could not realize what they were saying until I had my own family. With the daily routines of working and raising a family I now understand.
It has been another busy month for the Chamber and I expect that will not change anytime soon. I’d like to say thanks to everyone that attended the luncheon at the Folk Center on April 24th with Lt. Governor Daniel Mongiardo. We had an excellent turnout and the |

the meeting was very informative. I would like to thank the Governor’s office for their support and I also want to say thanks to Truman Fields who was instrumental in scheduling this meeting.
The golf scramble is quickly approaching and sponsorships are still available. Please contact the chamber if you would like to help sponsor this event. There is also still time to put together a team for anyone that would like to do so. Our membership drive runs throughout the month of May and the membership committee has been busy gearing up for this event. Membership is the life blood of the chamber, so please keep this in mind. If all of us take ownership in procuring new members, we will continue to grow and become stronger each and every year. Our next New Member Orientation Session will be held June 10th.
Please join me in welcoming our newest board members: Steve Lawson (NACCO), Frankie Blevins (Blevins Law), and Rhonda McIntyre (Wallingford Broadcasting). All three were appointed to the Board in April and each is an asset to the chamber and our community. We have also increased some of our committee rosters by members graciously agreeing to volunteer their time and energy to serve on one of our various committees. Please call David at the Chamber (986-9760) if you would like to join a committee. Our May membership meeting will be a joint meeting with the Richmond Chamber of Commerce at the Madison County Extension office on May 16. During the meeting, Kent Clark will provide a State of the County Address and the 2007-2008 class of Leadership Madison County will graduate. Please make plans now to attend this event.
